LOU ANN BOTSFORD, LCMT


Lou Ann's personal focus on a healthy lifestyle, a keen interest in nutrition, and her commitment to fitness are what ultimately led her to specialize in Sports Massage.  She is a Nationally Certified, Licensed Massage Therapist and as an Adjunct Faculty member of the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI), teaches Sports Massage at the Newport, RI campus.











Lou Ann is a graduate of the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy, Worcester, MA and also holds degrees from the Pennsylvania State University and the University of Rhode Island.  She has earned hundreds of credit hours in massage therapy continuing education and is certified in Orthopedic Massage by the Orthopedic Massage Education & Research Institute (OMERI).  Her background also includes training in Active Isolated Stretching - The Mattes Method and neuromuscular therapy.


  

        










Lou Ann is Chairperson of the RI - AMTA Sports Massage Team which was distinguished as the National AMTA Sports Massage Team of the Year in 2008 - her team has supported numerous events throughout New England, including the Boston Marathon, RI Special Olympics, MS-150, Save The Bay swim, Pan Mass Challenge, The Flattest Century in the East and Operation Stand Down for Veterans.



Lou Ann's desire to lead by example and her passion for Sports Massage are obvious through her own athletic pursuits:  


          *Triathlete(she completed 5 triathlons, 8 road races, 1 duathlon & 2 cycling events in 2011) 

          *Captain of her MS-150 cycling team - Team Vitamin Shoppe (2012 is her 5th year of participation)

          *Certified Spinning Instructor has taught indoor cycling at Brown University and currently teaches at

            Boston Sports Club,  Providence, RI.
